FAQ's
-
What if my presenting issue is not listed?Every journey is unique, and we're here to support you no matter what you're facing. If your specific challenge isn't mentioned here, please reach out to us. We're committed to connecting you with the right resources, even if it means pointing you in a different direction.
-
What do I need to do to prepare for the initial session?Just bring yourself! It can be helpful to think about your therapy goals beforehand, but if you're not sure, no sweat – we'll figure it out together. Plus, you'll need to fill out an intake and consent form before we get started.
-
What can I expect at my first appointment?Nerves are totally normal, but rest assured, we've got this. In your first session, we'll focus on building rapport, getting to know you, and setting goals for our time together. No need to stress about leading the conversation – that's our job!
-
Do you accept Insurance? How does billing work? We've got you covered! Payments are taken upfront for each session, and we'll shoot you a receipt via email. You can use this receipt to seek reimbursement from your extended-health benefit provider. Not sure if your insurance covers clinical social work? Give them a shout and ask about coverage for social work, maximum coverage per session, and how to submit receipts.
-
What can I expect after I book my first appointment?Once you've booked, keep an eye on your inbox for an appointment confirmation email. You'll need to complete an intake/consent form before your session, and you can manage your appointments through your confidential client portal. If it's a virtual session, we'll send you a secure link to join 30 minutes before go-time.
-
How frequently should I be attending sessions?Consistency is key! Research shows that weekly or bi-weekly sessions tend to be most effective. We'll work together to find a schedule that fits your needs and goals.
-
How many sessions will I need?Ah, the million-dollar question! The number of sessions varies depending on your unique situation and commitment to therapy. Generally, most clients see significant progress within around ten sessions, but we'll take it step by step and adjust as needed.
-
Are there limits to confidentiality?Your privacy is super important to us. While we keep everything you share confidential, there are a few exceptions: if you or someone else is in danger, or if we're legally required to disclose information. This will be explained in more detail in the intake and consent form you complete before your first session.
-
What is Walk-and-Talk Therapy?Walk-and-Talk Therapy is a form of psychotherapy conducted outdoors while walking with your therapist. It blends traditional talk therapy with gentle movement in a natural environment to promote emotional regulation, creativity, and overall well-being.
-
Do I have to be physically fit to do Walk-and-Talk Therapy? Not at all. Walk-and-Talk sessions are paced gently and tailored to your comfort level. We select routes that accommodate varying abilities and ensure frequent breaks are available when needed.
-
What if the weather is bad?We monitor the forecast and will connect with you in advance if adjustments are needed. In the case of inclement weather, we’ll either move the session indoors or conduct it virtually.
-
How is privacy maintained in public spaces? We choose quieter paths and parks to support privacy, but since sessions occur in public spaces, complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. If this is a concern, we’re happy to discuss alternative options.
-
Can I switch between Walk-and-Talk and in-office or virtual therapy?Yes! We offer a flexible, client-centered approach. You can mix Walk-and-Talk sessions with in-office or virtual therapy based on your preferences, the weather, or your goals.
-
Can I start with Walk-and-Talk Therapy as a new client?New clients are required to complete an Initial Intake Session either in-office or virtually before beginning Walk-and-Talk Therapy. This helps us assess suitability and tailor the best plan for your needs.
